This year on December 10th Walcot Hall held its first Christmas Fair and Santa’s Grotto. The very special visitor came and greeted children in our tipi that is situated in our woodlands area. Children and their parents had an option on a pony ride up to the tipi which added to the fun and adventure. The children that walked had to follow a course of ribbons tied on trees to get to Santa.
Children then went down to the ballroom where the fair was taking place and could decorate Christmas biscuits and get their face painted by Dragon Fly Designs. Everyone was happy and smiling and the children really brought a lot of Christmas spirit to the event.
In the ballroom the fair proved to be a huge success with over 28 stall holders all varying from: Local cheese, pork, cupcakes, artists, jewelry, toys, gifts, cards and much more. We transformed the anteroom into a cafe where we served a selection of mulled wine, cakes, soup and hot dogs.
Through out the day there were over 300 people to share the day with us making the whole event a wonderful occasions for all.
We hope to have another Fair next year and make it an annual event!

Following on from the two great open air performances from Heartbreak Productions we would like to thank all that came and not forgetting the fantastic cast and directors!
The first show held at Walcot Hall was Pride and Prejudice on the 21st July . Quite possibly Jane Austen’s most popular classic novel. Heartbreak’s fresh and contemporary adaptation from its writer in residence, David Kerby Kendall highlighted the wit, fun and absurdities of the characters. Intermingled with period dance, music and song making it enjoyable for all the family!
The evening of Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare on August 17th was slightly better weather but the very up beat 1920′s influence was sure to distract you from feeling any cold! Singing, dancing and glorious costumes were on display. The cast consisted of just five members which is pretty incredible when you consider the character changes they had to under go through out the evening! The audience however stated they were none the wiser to this, which therefor shows their brilliant acting skills all round!
Audience members started arriving from 6′oclock to enjoy the gardens, beautiful scenery and settle down to a picnic. Wonderful 1920′s music was playing whilst people arrived giving a very upbeat and lively atmosphere. This defiantly got people in the mood for when the play started at 7.30.
We hope that they will come again next year and perform some more fantastic shows for us. And of course we hope you will join us!
