Walcot Hall’s Wedding Fair

On Sunday 24th February we held our second Wedding Fair here at Walcot Hall. The day was buzzing with lots of brides and grooms and over 30 fantastic suppliers including A2Zest who hosted a ‘pop up cafe’ in the Anteroom serving drinks and lunches through out the day. Other suppliers included: Hiring Miss Daisy, The Traveling Vintage Llama Tearooms, Trixipix photo booth’s, Lavender Blue venue decoration and flowers, Shropshire Country Brides, Sweet New’s sweet carts, Oliver Swan photography, Ironbridge Catering, Sarah Jane Midwood flowers and many more!

On arrival brides got given a goodie bag which included a wedding magazine, handmade soaps and bath bombs, rose petal confetti from Shropshire Petals, skin care samples and a CD from The Hot Jazz Biscuits. Guests also had a glass of fizz (from Tipples Bar’s) and canapes (from A2Zest).

At 2pm we had our Bridal Catwalk show which showed a stunning collection of off the peg and custom made wedding dresses by My Little Wedding Shop and Castle Brides. Men’s wear, bridesmaids dresses and bridal wear were also provided by Ludlow Brides.

Afternoon Tea in the Ballroom for Mother’s Day

Come and enjoy a wonderful Afternoon Tea this Mother’s Day in the Stunning Ballroom. Served by Jenny’s Catering from Shrewsbury.

We are offering you the unique chance to come and enjoy Afternoon Tea in the beautiful surroundings of Walcot Hall, we will open up the gardens so you can explore after your Tea or before to work up an appetite!

There will be the choice of Full Afternoon Tea at £15 served on a dainty cake stand with sandwiches, scones clotted cream and jam, a selection of cakes from Carrot cake, meringues, profiteroles and much more. You will have the choice of a pot of tea or coffee to go with your tea.

For a more plush Afternoon Tea why not treat your mum to the Full Champagne Afternoon Tea which features all of the above plus a glass of champagne for £20.

Children aged 5-12 are £4.50

A pianist will be performing in the Anteroom next to the roaring log fire. There will be a bar serving a selection of drinks so you can top up your Champagne or tea pot if your driving! All mother’s will get a small present from us too!

This Years Christmas Fair

Another successful Christmas Fair was held on December 1st. This was our second one and is proving to be a popular annual event! This Year we opened up the Main Hall in addition to the Ballroom for Stall holders and other fun activities. There was a large array of stall holders offering a wonderful selection of goodies to buy.

We also had our cookie decorating stall and Face painting. The local primary school also came and decorated Christmas cards with the children. In the Anteroom we had yummy lunches served by A2Zest, they also had a hog roast in the Courtyard which was just a visually pleasing for the eyes as it was for our tummies!

Our most exciting aspect would be Santa in our very own grotto! The grotto was hidden away in the garden. Children would have the opportunity to pony ride through the woods to see him. Then they entered a magical Christmas scene with Santa, his elf and lots of presents under the tree!

Santa even brought his ‘Naughty and Nice Book’ which as you well know is very important this time of year!

We hope to see you all again next year and thank you for your support!

Wedding Fair Sunday Febuary 24th 2013

Come along to our wedding fair on Sunday 24th February 12-4pm.

You will be greeted with a goodie bag, glass of bubbly and canapes!

It will give you a chance to see the venue in all its glory. Wander around the Main Hall and Ballroom and see our wonderful recommended suppliers, we pride ourselves in offering you the best of the best and suppliers that are up to date with the times and trends.

We will have a Bridal Catwalk show in the Main Hall displaying bridal wear, grooms wear and mother of the bride. The Catwalk which MUST be booked in advance, tickets are free but due to limited spaces you must book.

There will be a pop up cafe in the Anteroom giving you the chance to taste the delights of A2Zests catering skills, they will be serving afternoon tea and light lunches.

Christmas Fair update!

We thought you may like to know a bit more about the stall holders we have confirmed for this years Christmas Fair. The stall holders will be throughout the Main Hall and Ballroom. This provides a unique experience to see inside Robin and Lucinda’s home which is normally private.

The stall holders we have this year so far are: Dragonfly Creations who will be face painting and selling unique hand made mirrors, Rachel Barker Pottery, Pampered Pineapple Gifts, Bonbonniere Chocolates, Sweet News, Carols Cupcakes, Chilton Gin, Party Lights, Phoenix Cards, Claire Prescott’s Herbal Cosmetics, Anne Littlehales Jams, Church Cottage Produce, Forever Living Products, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Trio Jewelry, Emporous Toys, Sew Very Pretty, Fiona Hitchman’s handmade cards and finally Christmas Trees and Wreaths by Walcot Hall.

Walcot Hall Grand Bazaar

On Tuesday 16th October Walcot Hall held its first Grand Bazaar gift fair. We opened up the house and Ballroom to host a large array of stall holders, all selling wonderful products. The stall holders ranged from: Cards, Jewlery, clothing, antiques, art, hand made chocolates, jams, chutneys, hand bags,  wine and many more!

We had over 200 people visit the Grand Bazaar. Everyone enjoyed themselves buying early Christmas presents and treats for themselves. It was a beautiful fresh autumnal day and there was a lovely atmosphere throughout.

Lunches were served in the Anteroom by A2Zest. There was a yummy selection of home made cakes and light lunches. The fudge chocolate brownie was a big hit!

All money raised from the entrance fee was donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care, a very worthy charity which greatly appreciates the support.

We hope to make this an annual event so those that attended we would love to hear any feed back you may have! And we hope that we will see you at our next event ‘The Christmas Fair’ on December 1st.

Just in case you didn’t already know we will give you a 20% reduction to mid week weddings (Sun-Thursday) and a 10% discount is made for bookings outside June, July & August. However if you decided to have a mid week wedding also out of season you can not have both discounts. Also Christmas, New year and Easter are classed as peak times and do  not receive discount.

Our new hidden treasure the Fire Truck and our new apartment Garden Flat

We are very excited about our new hidden treasure and apartment! We have already had lots of bookings which is very exciting!

First of all let me introduce you to the Fire Truck! During Autumn/Winter months the fire truck is used to transport people to and from the various shots we have on the estate during shooting season. After reading a very inspiring article Robin Parish decided to turn the fire truck into a hidden treasure for the rest of the year! It is secluded in the Arboretum and is very romantic with its double brass bed and eclectic furnishings. There is a 2 ring gas stove for cooking on, crockery and cooking utensils. It is small but cosy; if you like camping or are a bit of an adventure seeker this is for you!

Secondly is Garden Flat, this has been a long term let on the estate for many years so when the previous owners moved out we decided to make it into another holiday let!

It is situated near Quinton and just off from the car park. It has many quirky and wonderful features such as: A stunning glass conservatory set up as a dining room/sitting room; perfect for long dinners in the sun with a glass of wine (or two) There is a well stocked garden full of herbs and spices that your welcome to use. Also there is a seating area outside, the garden backs onto the walled garden which is peaceful and quiet.

Inside is a open plan living/kitchen area with huge comfy sofas, Aga and log burner for those cosy nights in. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, single room and a family bathroom with a bath. Down stairs there is an additional WC and shower room.

We are certain you will fall in love with this apartment as much as our others!

Gipsy Caravan

We have just revamped our gipsy caravan. There are a few touches yet to be added such as a new log burner we have just ordered, but I hope you’ll agree that it is looking lovely! We used some pretty vintage strawberry wallpaper from Laura Ashley. The seat fabric is from Deck Chair Stripes and the yellow gingham fabric and buttons from Ebay, I found this wonderful lady called Carol Vickers based in Tregynog who made it for us,  she did a fantastic job and it was ready in no time at all! New crockery with a Cath Kidson feel stocks the cupboards as well as several cosy blankets.

Perfect For Self Catering Holidays in Shropshire

The bedroom has been painted a lovely red to give a cosy boudoir feeling, I felt the red was a bit to full on in the bedroom so decided to break it up with some wallpaper on the door panels, yet another great find from Robin and Lucinda’s treasure chest of goodies! This Indian inspired wallpaper is one of a kind, it is stunning and the photos do not do it justice; I saw this paper a while back and fell in love but couldn’t think where to put it!
